My passion is connecting with young children and guiding each child to feel confident in order to reach his/her full potential. I would love the opportunity to get to know your child!
I have 8 years of teaching experience in early childhood, most recently as a first grade teacher. During those 8 years I tutored many students over the summer, after school, and on weekends. I have a dual masters in Elementary Education and Special Education. I am also trained in Orton Gillingham and have experience teaching Eureka Math, Math in Focus, and various other math, reading, and writing curricula. After my son, Caleb, was born in April 2022, I switched to tutoring full time to have a more flexible schedule.

Esme was very thorough and took careful measures to help our daughter grasp concepts that she had forgotten or was just learning. She enabled our daughter to really think about how she would come up with the correct answer herself, giving her immense confidence. Esme was always punctual, flexible in accommodating requests to incorporate last-minute homework issues, easy to communicate with concerning school/classroom updates we raised, and provided us with helpful, detailed accounts of all of the tutoring sessions. Our daughter looked forward to seeing her and obviously enjoyed spending time with her. Because she could meet at our convenience in our home, it also saved us time in our busy family schedule. Esme tutored my rising 3rd grader and rising first grader. She engaged my third grader with math concepts he'd been extremely reluctant to learn, shoring up his knowledge so he could succeed during the school year. She also worked with him once the school year began to successfully build positive homework habits and work on motivation for working hard on schoolwork. She totally transformed his orientation towards schoolwork and the quality of work he produced at school, which was noted by several of his teachers. His homework skills also improved dramatically--homework went from being a daily battle to being something he did automatically without comment.
My rising first grader was delighted to practice reading and math with Esme, and practiced outside of tutoring sessions so he could show off his knowledge. This tutoring allowed him to begin his school year feeling like he could definitely succeed, and motivating him to work harder.
